Originally built in the 1830s on land pertaining to Mears Tavern Stand, this house was occupied by Anna Mears Wood and known locally at the time as "The Red House". It changed hands several times through the 1850s and 1860s, eventually becoming Talbot Housing. It's likely, but not certain, that the house was substantially rebuilt in the late 1800s and no longer resembles the original.
